The Ingame Cash Shop: Critic/Feedback/Suggestions/Comparison
« on: April 18, 2012, 07:35:01 am »
Well,

regarding the Cash Shop, both Mythos Europe and Mythos Global have been very successful :
They did a great job in ignoring customer suggestions, and not adapting to the player's different needs and preferences.

If you have read all the old discussions on Frogster's Mythos Europe forum for example,
you'll know that the Cash Shop is very different from what most people were hoping for:

people were demanding&recommending:

* items that do not alter the over-all ingame economy too much - but still with noticeable and useful effects,
so that the discrepancy wouldn't be too high between players who wouldn't want to pay2play or couldn't afford it,
and those that would actually want to buy stuff and  support the developers this way.

* items that have permanent effects and stay active indefinitely,
rather than bound to xx hours/days  or xx charges of use

* reasonable, cheap pricing -
Mythos is ofc by far not #1 on the market, so maybe they could compete better with cheap pricing,
to make up for what the game obviously lacks in support,  content updates & bug fixes

* if there are cash - shop exclusive items, maybe still implement a exchange-method for at least some of those items.
it might be helpful to the economy in the long run

ITEMS: comparison  Global vs. Russia:

the Russian Mythos version is offering interesting and useful items that ours doesn't ..
Here's what you can buy on Russia's Cash Shop :

Some of the items that we also have over here, have slightly different effects..
e.g the automatic dismantle/identify items comes with different amount of charges,
and I believe the luck potion on Russia only gives +100 (need to re-check) while ours does +200 (but it's also way more expensive over here)

PRICING: comparison Global vs. Russia

however, besides the fact Mythos Global not having as much diversity in their portfolio,
currently, imho the biggest and most apparent issue with the Cash Shop isn't what kind of items you're offering and what they're doing:

The problem right now -  unreasonable and exorbitantly , ridiculously high pricings :

Why do we suddenly have to pay so much more for the same stuff, even compared to Mythos Europe - which also wasn't cheap even back then ?

Here's what you'd get for your dollars and euros at the moment:

Global:
For 50 US Dollar you get 50000 bones (1 bone = 0,001 Dollar)

Russia:
For 2500 Rubel (~84,5 US Dollar) you get 3000 bones  (1bone = ~0,0282 Dollar)

Example: what does it cost to buy 3x Additionally Inventory Extensions for 30days

Global: 1 extension 4900 bones = 3*4900 bones = 14700 bones = 14, 7 Dollar
Russia: 1 extension 44 bones = 3*44 bones = 132 bones = ~ 3, 72 Dollar

So, instead it could or should be like this:

* adjust pricing to a reasonable level
* add more items to the shop, similar ones to the Russian ones, e.g
* adjust the effects of what items do (longer duration, more charges, and also permanent items)

for example, the changes could include:

Automatic Dismantling Device: change from xx charges to xx days, add a permanent version to existing ones
Automatic Identify Device: change from xx charges to xx days, add a permanent version to existing ones
Inventory Extension: add permanent version to existing ones, and allow removal of  stored items to standard inventory after extension expires

Pricing:

Automatic Dismantling Device: 15 days ~ 1 $ ... 1 month ~1,5 $ ... 1 year ~ 10 $ ... permanent ~ 15 $
Automatic Identify Device: 15 days ~ 1 $ ... 1 month ~1,5 $ ... 1 year ~ 10 $ ... permanent ~ 15 $
1 Inventory Extension: 1 month ~ 1 $ ... 1 year ~ 10 $ ... permanent ~ 10 $

Now that is what I call an item shop, It has just about everything even the rejuvenation potion for us grinders who
dont want to quest. well I must admit im very impressed with that shop. one can only hope to get more items  along
with some nice pets.

The biggest problem is the price of the items  I could not agree more it should  be lower with more choices maybe even the option to earn FREE bones like frogster did with those surveys.

bind lifting scroll, nice... sorry to go off here bob but does that unbind enchanted equips aswell.

Some of the packages on RU a quite nice, for instance for 350 bones [about $10], you get
Vitality Potion [30 days]
Bag Extension [30 days]
Auto Dismantle [15 days] - yes time based not use based, they can be done.
Magic Enchantment Limit Exceed Adjurant [lets you enchant an item a 5th time, guaranteed success] - I guess some may call this p2w?
Babt Boar Cap [provides +100 luck for 15 days]
Nice little package for a crest farming spree^^

They could learn a lot from the guys at Hellgate Global, there a lot of items are time rather that use based, dismantlers, identifiers etc.
Come in a variety of 'sizes' from 8 hours up

no idea, here's what the tooltip says:

Bind Lifting Scroll

PS: another good reason why I'm playing on Russian Mythos instead of Global - IF I ever play Mythos at all, that is:

Russia already has Zone 4 now, charlvl 60 cap, Ice Horn Plateau, new maps for the other 3 old regions, and I believe Crystal Defense.

Also, they even have a small corner for english speaking players on their forum.. using google chrome is also helpful and convenient.

Are all those items available when they released Mythos EU? Mythos Global is still in its early stages so they probably will release more items soon enough. Maybe together with the level cap update.

I have been told that a report was made about the item shop on global, as to whether or not its going to
get changed any time soon im just as much in the dark as every one else =/

EU did not have as many cool items on there shop compared to RU, Global has some nice things that are an improvment to EU tho.

Yes they have Crystal Defense.

Was also another update at the end of March. Sadly all that really did was apply the same changes we see here
[removal of all but one gate, not epic gates, purchasable materials [even implemented the missing materials we have here, lol]

There is a new quest line now, runs from killing Bamon, then you have to go 1 on 1 with 4 increasingly tough Bamons.
Not sure what's after that, but I know the reward is an item that basically gives you 300% crit bonus [you should have seen the flood of Bamon's hearts on the AH]

IMO they've pandered to the PvP crowd and ruined the game in the process, the variety of viable builds is now bordering on pathetic.

Finally, yes Bob there WAS an english section on the forum, I clearly remember a mod asking me if in game if we wanted one, not long after a bunch of us started playing over there.

Sadly it's gone now, probably due to a lack of interest, pretty sure only about three people, including myself, ever posted, so only ourselves to blame there.

Also a Mythos_ENG guild, but it died for the same reason, especially given everyone ran over here to global once it started accepting people from the EU.

I simply can't believe that they applied the same stupid changes over there, the community are livid, and the game is now almost as dead as here.

ah well, off to pre-load D3  :P

He that will not is a bigot.
He that dare not is a slave.

you know when I think about how they seem to be screwing up things and ignoring us constantly,
teasing us and then letting us down over and over again - T3/Hanbit/redbana ..

sometimes I'd just like to say f?)§k you guys .

ofc normally I wouldn't do that because usually, I'm a polite and thoughtful person,
and secondly, I shouldn't because I don't know what the 'real' reasons are that situation is as bad as it is, again.

but thirdly - and that's what matters - it seems as it won't even change one tiny bit, so no use in doing so
yet there's no other way expressing how I think of it this very moment.

RIP Mythos, for the n-th time

edit: well of course it would be very bad if Mythos would die again,

I don't want this to happen so soon..

but in the end, if there is no booming CS, how they think to making any money,

and who do you think would be paying for forum, servers, support, bug fixes and content updates, plus translation/localisation then..

PPS: this is why I like Mythos, and trying to save it:

>> Why people still like the new Mythos - and how you could help

everyone interested in the CS / mid-long term survival of Mythos,

should go and start a mail inquiry, mail to T3Fun, PM the admins, and what not..

maybe starting a petition. if it's not too late..
