When it comes to the past and future of Mythos,
and after I saw this thread over here:
Just wondering how the game is now? Is it worth picking up? Is it here to stay? What do you all think?
Honest answer, No and Probably not.
it's times like these when I remember how important it is,
to not only constantly look at the bad side of things,
and not only constantly requesting and suggesting necessary changes in order to keep Mythos alive,
(from both a players perspective, and trying to see it from the publisher's side as well - and lamenting about what went wrong and still isn't running well)
but also - and maybe even more important - to focus on the GOOD THINGS about the new version of Mythos.
Sure you might have heard about all the problems in the past,
how the new Mythos would be so much worse compared to the old original,
how bad the customer & community support is, and how doomed Mythos is, after all it's reincarnations, etc..
but besides all that,
I think Mythos is STILL one of the best hack & slash ARPGs EVER,
..and maybe the best online MP H&S ARPG there ever was, or still is, so farnothing changed my mind regarding this fact,
especially more recently and in retrospective,
after I tried so many games over the past years,
including Diablo 1, 2, 3, Path of Exile, Titan Quest, Torchlight1, Fate, Loki, Dawn of Magic, Divine Divinity, Magicka, Restricted Area, all Mythos versions, and what not - you name it ...
My personal focus is strictly on pure hack & slash action RPGs,
and their corresponding online / multiplayer implementations & features.I'm an old fan of games like these, but I became fond of playing with friends, so it has to be online. preferably closed net servers, and large open instances where you could meet strangers from all over the world, eg. in town, etc, while preserving the intimacy of private coop play with guild members and real life friends.
That is why you only see games like above in my list, but not other games that are somehow close or distant 'relatives' regarding their genre.
I didn't enjoy games like WoW, Tera, Elder Scrolls, Gothic, Guild wars etc.. they might be good games, but everybody has it's own taste and prefrences..
Now with having that cleared up,
what's this thread for?
I decided to start this as an initiative, just another attempt in order to try and save Mythos and it's community.
It's dedicated to players of the 'new' Mythos version, meaning either Frogster's Mythos Europe, or Belver's Russian version,
which are all pretty much identical to the current base version, developed and published by T3/Hanbit in Korea.
(besides the fact that Mythos Global is the most outdated version currently..
..new things and bug fixes are always implemented for the korean version first.. usually 1 update per week)
For everyone who's entirely new to Mythos, or coming back after a long break,
let them know what it' like after all this time, and why it's still a good game to try out and enjoy, even with it's bugs, quirks, and lack of proper support.
Step #1:- Join this conversation.
- Let us know why you are still around
- Tell us which parts of the game you enjoy
- What features do you like best, old or new
- What makes Mythos special
- What are positive differences or similarities compared to other games
Step #2:- Google for Mythos.
- Search for gaming sites, online magazines, etc. and what not.
- Look for any existing threads and articles about Mythos
- If you find big gaming communities with no infos about Mythos at all, start a thread, post your own review (good & bad things)
- Tell everyone you know about this thread and link back here, where it seems appropriate
- Start a mail inquiry and send it to T3Fun. Thell them about your concerns and suggestions in this matter.
everyone who comes here, and not sure wheter to try out Mythos or not,
I suggest to either read all the pros & cons carefully,
or to just skip everything and download and try it out right away -
even though people were disappointed by the New Mythos and it's new publishers in the past,
it doesn't mean they don't like the game at all anymore,
and maybe you would like it too, as well .
so in any case - try it out for yourself, and form your own opinion afterwards
