When it comes to the past and future of Mythos,

and after I saw this thread over here:

Just wondering how the game is now?  Is it worth picking up?  Is it here to stay?   What do you all think?
Honest answer, No and Probably not.

it's times like these when I remember how important it is,

to not only constantly look at the bad side of things,
and not only constantly requesting and suggesting necessary changes in order to keep Mythos alive,
(from both a players perspective, and trying to see it from the publisher's side as well - and lamenting about what went wrong and still isn't running well)
but also - and maybe even more important - to focus on the GOOD THINGS about the new version of Mythos.
Sure you might have heard about all the problems in the past,
how the new Mythos would be so much worse compared to the old original,
how bad the customer & community support is, and how doomed Mythos is, after all it's reincarnations, etc..

but besides all that,
I think Mythos is STILL one of the best hack & slash ARPGs EVER,

..and maybe the best online MP H&S ARPG there ever was, or still is, so far

nothing changed my mind regarding this fact,
especially more recently and in retrospective,
after I tried so many games over the past years,

including Diablo 1, 2, 3, Path of Exile, Titan Quest, Torchlight1, Fate, Loki, Dawn of Magic, Divine Divinity, Magicka, Restricted Area, all Mythos versions, and what not - you name it ...

My personal focus is strictly on pure hack & slash action RPGs,
and their corresponding  online / multiplayer implementations & features.

I'm an old fan of games like these, but I became fond of playing with friends, so it has to be online. preferably closed net servers, and large open instances where you could meet strangers from all over the world, eg. in town, etc, while preserving the intimacy of private coop play with guild members and real life friends.
That is why you only see games like above in my list, but not other games that are somehow close or distant 'relatives' regarding their genre.
I didn't enjoy games like WoW, Tera, Elder Scrolls, Gothic, Guild wars etc..  they might be good games, but everybody has it's own taste and prefrences..

Now with having that cleared up,
what's this thread for?

I decided to start this  as an initiative, just another attempt in order to try and save Mythos and it's community.

It's dedicated to players of the 'new' Mythos version,

meaning either Frogster's Mythos Europe, or Belver's Russian version,
which are all pretty much identical to the current base version, developed and published by T3/Hanbit in Korea.

(besides the fact that Mythos Global is the most outdated version currently..
..new things and bug fixes are always implemented for the korean version first.. usually 1 update per week)

For everyone who's entirely new to Mythos, or coming back after a long break,

let them know what it' like after all this time, and why it's still a good game to try out and enjoy, even with it's bugs, quirks, and lack of proper support.

Step #1:
  • Join this conversation.
  • Let us know why you are still around
  • Tell us which parts of the game you enjoy
  • What features do you like best, old or new
  • What makes Mythos special
  • What are positive differences or similarities compared to other games

Step #2:
  • Google for Mythos.
  • Search for gaming sites, online magazines, etc. and what not.
  • Look for any existing threads and articles about Mythos
  • If you find big gaming communities with no infos about Mythos at all, start a thread, post your own review (good & bad things)
  • Tell everyone you know about this thread and link back here, where it seems appropriate
  • Start a mail inquiry and send it to T3Fun. Thell them about your concerns and suggestions in this matter.

everyone who comes here, and not sure wheter to try out Mythos or not,

I suggest to either read all the pros & cons carefully,
or to just skip everything and download and try it out right away -

even though people were disappointed by the New Mythos and it's new publishers in the past,
it doesn't mean they don't like the game at all anymore,
and maybe you would like it too, as well .

so in any case - try it out for yourself, and  form your own opinion afterwards

I remembered one of my posts over @ darkmatters.org,

I think this is why I am currently still playing Mythos, or trying to.. :

darkmatters.org:
Quote
BAD STUFF:
  • new Mythos received a lot of bad press because people were comparing it to the old version, and concentrating on the negative aspects of these changes
  • the new publisher also piffed off a lot of players, because they often announce something, then postpone it, or change it.. the support could also be better
  • there is not much publicity about Mythos, never was, since it's relaunch.. so it's not catching enough attention to attract more players. everyone talks about D3, or other games
  • Mythos is partially bugged, and some parts are still badly balanced..
  • there were only a few patch updates since it's relaunch, and the new dev/publisher doesn't communicate to/with the players very much.
  • inconvenient/circuitous browser-based launcher (game itself is installed to & runs from local HD though)
  • where are all the players?
  • cash shop prices ridiculously high (I hope they adjust it soon)
GOOD STUFF:
  • even the new Mythos can still be a lot of Fun, if you give it a chance:
doesn't take long to get used to  gameplay mechanics & still adequate and fast progression of char development
    • free skill resets up to clvl 40
    • daily quests granting a 2hr 50% experience bonus for every 3rd daily quest you complete
    • with all the various experience buffs, its possible to dungeon grind for levels again, if you prefer that over quest-grinding (used to be the more common way before)
  • especially the end game content can be quite challenging > very tough and dangerous maps & bosses
  • special end game gear to go for, needs time to find&farm (not everybody has it)
  • it has some nice MP specific online features, that were missing in most of the other H&S ARPgs of the past:
    • dungeon master: rewarding players who clear a dungeon the fastest, with +luck buff for the time you're leading, and +cash if you're fastest at the end of each week
    • quick duel: fight against another player directly where you encounter him, if you send him a request
    • battle 'arena': special group-based PvP mode, takes place in the area called 'Ice Horn plateau'.. unlocks special boss fight & chance for extra item reward
    • crystal defense: in each wave, protect the base in your group, against incoming hordes of monsters > grants several buffs for players as a reward
    • guild system: grants global buffs for each guild based on certain rules (guild level, member count, time of guild creation, online times accumulated as a guild..)
    • friend&mail system: see who's online right now and where, what level/class.. send mail to buddies, attach items to mail or link in chat..
  • Mythos is free to play

wow finally some positive energy.

I still play this game becuase like you bob, I think this is one of the best ARPG games that ive ever played. To say im still
around because its one of the best would not really describe why im still here.
I love the gameplay, the fact that I can use w,a,s,d to control my character to move around that for me is on of the best
features that Ive ever used in any ARPG, not to mention the camera functions because there is not many arpg games that
allow you to change from isometric to mmo view. It is all the small things that make this such a great game for example
the ID scrolls, how many RPG type games have you ever played and when in need of an id scroll / charm you did not have one...
well on mythos you need not walk far or look very hard to find one. These small things make mythos such a great game.

Ive never came across a game where you could hoard so much junk and actually do something with it all. Whether its
breaking down the endless ammounts of junk to create something special like a skill gem or gathering the mass ammounts
of materials found in runegates to *cough* attempt to craft something. Ive never played a game where Rare items
drop in abundance and to imrove on quality of drops you only need luck.
Luck its so simple and effective...To hell with all these other additions to luck, mythos keeps it pure and simple....just luck and thats how I like it.

Any ARPG fan can come play mythos even if they dont like the cute graphics and yes I know its not all nitty gritty like some
other games but who cares after the first 30 mins of playing this for the 1st time the graphics go out the window and hello fast paced brainless action
packed finger clicking ~ ahhh the brain does produce chemicals..... let them Flow.

So many people come on play and say its to easy, well you know what I love that too. You play all the way through the game
at a very fast pace get to the end bosses then realize what the game is all about - End Game boss killing, upgrading gear
and trying to make your Cap character the best he/she can be.
Any one who quits this game before they even have one skill gem imo has not even started to play it.

This is one of the only games that does not have world chat full of trolls or kids, Ive been told the average age of mythos
players is 20+.... that to me is great and why ? because every single MMO / RPG that I have EVER played world chat has
always been switch off but on mythos its not a problem I dont need to do that. The community here is actually really well
behaved and always willing to help even tho it may seem at most times chat is dead... thats because where all grinding our
fingers down to the bone in some dungeon splatting mobs and mobs of monsters ~ Good Times.

So what makes mythos special, well that is not something I cant describe with words its just a feeling, like love?
I know this is a great game and no ammount of Pros, Cons or any other game will ever change that Fact.
If this game is still around in the future and there is people playing it  then you can bet your boots ill
still be around playing it too.

Oh this is nice.

Well I don't like posting long posts but I like Mythos because it's different from the usual point-and-click MMORPGs that I'm already tired playing. I'm still playing this because there aren't many of this kind and Mythos is pretty nice for a free to play game.

I agree that we must not discourage new players from trying it. Some of us are just getting tired of waiting for the patch that's why some of us are becoming pessimistic, but this is definitely a decent game. In fact, I would like to recommend this game to many new players. The more players we have, the more fun the game will become.

I'm sure that once they release the patch, many players will go back, and Mythos will be very active again.
